Close Combat

In my game system (IRCRA) close combat is fought between individual opposing units with the actually resolution coming down to small combats between (usually) single pieces. The order in which the small combats are resolved is up to the attacker (the player moving into contact). At the end of each combat resolution phase no pieces will be left engaged in combat (although some will likely be pinned – “corner locked” is the term I use). A unit may fight more than one combat within a player phase and the order in which units engage may be critically important to overall battle outcomes.

The close combat system is discussed in a series of regular posts.
